A security guard is charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a shot at a former employee who went to pick up a paycheck.

According to an affidavit, the victim went to Estes Express Line in the 3400 block of Shelby Drive in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday to pick up a paycheck.

Security guard, Quintrease Rhodes, told the woman the paycheck would be mailed to her.

Court records show the woman “chest bumped” Rhodes, then Rhodes “pulled out her on duty handgun and fired a single shot” at the woman.

The woman was taken to Baptist East for hearing damage.

Rhodes was taken into custody.

According to an affidavit, Rhodes waived her rights and admitted firing a shot at the woman in self-defense.

She is charged with criminal attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm/commission of a felony.

Rhodes is due in court Monday, October 11.
