The Daytona Beach Police Department in Florida is investigating a deadly shooting. Police responded at 1:54 a.m. Wednesday night on Forest Glen Boulevard and Oak Tree Circle.

Investigators said 19-year-old Telan Mann was shot multiple times and has been pronounced dead.

A police officer, not far away at the time of the shooting, heard the shots and responded. Mann did not survive.

A group of Mann’s friends, who did not want to be identified, said the victim was a happy, caring person considered as the peacemaker of the group.

“He never wanted nothing bad for nobody. He always wanted everybody to be on good terms. He always was the positive one around the group. He never wanted any bad energy at all,” a friend of the victim said.

He was killed not far from where he was living with his sister.

“To get the call waking up that my best friend is gone was something I would have never imagined, so soon at least. He was only 19 years old,” a friend of the victim said.

It’s unclear why the young man was out here at that hour, 2 a.m. and so far there’s no identified suspect or motive, but Mann was just a block or so from home when he was gunned down. A sad end for someone his friends called the peacemaker.

It’s still unknown why he was outside just before 2 a.m. and who he was with at the time.

Police say this is a very active investigation. They are not releasing a lot of information in hopes of catching a killer.

No further details have been released yet.
