The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office is reporting eight people were shot during a graduation party in Summerton, South Carolina.

Sheriff Tim Baxley stated the incident happened on 4193 St. Paul Road.

Witnesses said, two vehicles approached the residence, one drove into the yard and the other stayed on the highway.

At that time, shots were fired. It is not sure whether shots were fired at specific persons or just randomly into the crowd.

Officials say the vehicles then sped away, heading south on St. Paul Highway.

When officers arrived on the scene, there were around 150 people in the yard. There were multiple gunshot victims.

Clarendon County Fire Rescue and Clarendon Sheriff’s Office Deputies began treating and transporting victims to Clarendon McLeod Hospital. There was a total of 8 victims.

There was one 12-year-old, one 13-year-old, one 14-year-old, two 15-year-olds, one 17-year-old, one 32-year-old and one 36-year-old victim hit by gunfire.

There were at least 60 to 70 rounds fired at this incident, officials said. It is not clear, as of yet, if some of these rounds may have been returning fire from some of the subjects at the party according to law enforcement.

Sheriff Baxley added that a 32-year-old woman died due to the injuries she sustained. The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office is very confident the incident was gang-related.

All victims were transported to Clarendon McLeod Hospital.
