A Tennessee man has been charged after a shooting left two people dead, including a ten-year-old girl, and one injured inside a Memphis home.

The shooting happened at a home in the 7100 block of Dokkum around 1:45 a.m.

Memphis Police said 21-year-old Allante McAbee allegedly killed his girlfriend’s 43-year-old mother Alice Williams and 10-year-old sister Mandia Shanbanka and critically injured her 19-year-old sister.

According to an affidavit, McAbee flagged officers down after the shooting and said “I did it.”

McAbee told police he got into an argument with his girlfriend’s 19-year-old sister when she pulled a knife on him. He said he pulled a “gun from his waistband” and shot the victim several times in the back.

Witnesses said the mother got between the two in an attempt to break up the altercation.

McAbee also told investigators he “blacked out” and didn’t intend to shoot Alice and the child.

Police said Alice Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and Mandia Shanbanka later died from her injuries at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.

The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

McAbee has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one count of possession of a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony, and one count of reckless endangerment.

According to a police affidavit, McAbee told police he got into an argument with a woman and when she pulled out a knife, he pulled a gun and shot her several times.

McAbee then said, according to the affidavit, that he did not mean to shoot Alice Williams or the child, but he blacked out.

Kimberly Lira said her daughter used to play with the 10-year-old girl, but over time she and other neighbors noticed strange people coming to visit the girls living in the house.

“It would look scary sometimes. Like who is this car just like creeping up. And they would be waiting for them at the corner,” Lira said.

People who live in the community said this is not the first time police have been called to the home. Neighbors said police have been called for past instances involving one of the young women and her boyfriend.

“They would always get into it with their boyfriends. Like, the boyfriend would come over there and I think like a couple of weeks ago he had pulled a pistol out on them,” Lira said.

Santiago Lavarias, who lives next door to the family, said he’s heard arguing between the girls and the boyfriend.

Several neighbors said they’ve also overheard the boyfriend talking about criminal activity.

“Would talk about you know just really sketchy stuff like strong arm robbery and other stuff like that,” Lavarias said.

McAbee is being held on a $2 million bond.
