Authorities extradited a New York woman back to Florida to face a first-degree murder charge in the July killing of Kayla Hodgson.

The 23-year-old was murdered in her Tamarac apartment in the afternoon hours of July 13, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

After Broward authorities obtained a warrant for her arrest, New York Police Department officers arrested 28-year-old Sakiyna Thompson on August 3 in Springfield Gardens, Queens.

Jail records show that BSO deputies took Thompson into custody Tuesday. She was being held at the North Broward Bureau jail in Pompano Beach.

According to a grand jury indictment, Thompson, a native of Jamaica, is accused of stabbing Hodgson multiple times.

Hodgson was not named in the indictment, though family members identified her to local news.

Officials haven’t specified an alleged motive.
