A 45-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested Friday for shooting and killing his 39-year-old girlfriend in his apartment that morning.

Uniontown police filed felony charges of homicide and aggravated assault against Danny Richard Sottile Jr. after he confessed to killing the woman, according to the criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint identified the victim as Tiffany Raymer.

Lt. Tom Kolencik, public information officer for Uniontown police, said Sottile told police that Raymer was staying with him for a few days.

According to the complaint, police were called to the Marathon gas station at about 6 a.m. Friday after Sottile was seen walking around with no shoes and a gun visible in his waistband.

Sottile told police he shot a woman named Tiffany at his apartment. He was taken into custody, and police went to Sottile’s residence at 40 Iowa St. where they found Raymer. She was declared dead at 11:23 a.m., according to the complaint.

In an interview with investigators, Sottile said he and Raymer had been together since about 4 p.m. the previous day.

According to the complaint, Sottile told police that he and Raymer had used methamphetamine, marijuana, and an unidentified substance Sottile called “wet.”

Sottile claimed he began to get paranoid and believed that Raymer had friends coming to his apartment to rob him. Sottile shot her in the chest after hearing noises outside and then left the apartment, according to court paperwork.

Asked how he knew that he shot Raymer in her chest, Sottile reportedly told police, “Because that’s where I was aiming.” He told police she ran from the room and he fired a second time, but did not know if he hit her.

During an interview with police after they found Raymer’s body, Sottile reportedly said he knew someone at the gas station would call the police because “everyone was staring at him and wouldn’t talk to him,” according to the complaint.

He was arraigned Friday afternoon before District Judge Jason Cox, who sent him to the Fayette County jail without bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. June 27.
