UPDATE (March 6, 2021): Birmingham officials said Jordian Valentine was found safe.
18-year-old Jordian Brenay Valentine was seen Saturday night when she, her on-again, off-again boyfriend and other friends had a “couple’s night” excursion to get tattoos in the Wylam area of Birmingham, Alabama.
It wasn’t unusual for Valentine to spend a couple of days with her ex-boyfriend, said her sister Amber Porter, but she has never done so without letting her mom know where she is. And, Porter said, the two sisters are normally in constant contact and there’s been no word since Saturday.
“Me and Jordian check in every day with each other,’’ Porter said. “That’s how I know something is wrong.”
Porter said their mom received a phone call Sunday morning from the ex-boyfriend or someone in his family saying Valentine had not been seen since about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The family has conducted several searches in the Wylam area, but to no avail. They have passed out fliers, knocked on doors and talked to residents in the area. She said they also have received some concerning texts since her disappearance. But there has been no word from Valentine herself.
“One neighbor said they heard screaming (that night) but didn’t think anything of it,’’ Porter said.
Birmingham police said Valentine was last seen at 510 Frisco Street in Wylam. She was wearing a black short romper and white shoes. She is described at a Black female, 5-foot, 3-inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She is also known to wear wigs.
“Valentine’s family believes she may be in danger,’’ said Birmingham police Sgt. Rod Mauldin.
“Jordian is loving, caring and she’d give you her last if you needed it,’’ Porter said. “I don’t think she would choose to vanish and not even tell me.”
