Autopsy results have been released for La’Mello Parker, a four-month-old boy killed during a two-state police chase.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said the autopsy results revealed the cause of death was a single gunshot wound. Ballistics report is still pending.
Authorities announced Tuesday morning that the child died at a Mobile, Alabama hospital.
Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, deputies with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana responded to the scene of a double murder in the city of Baker, which marked the beginning of a hunt that eventually ended on Interstate 10 in Harrison County.

Officials say 30-year-old Eric Smith entered the home of his ex-girlfriend, Christin Parker, and fatally shot her and her nephew, Brandon Parker.
Smith then fled in his Nissan Altima with his four-month-old child just before 3 p.m., traveling east on I-10 toward Gulfport.
The chase eventually came to an end near the Woolmarket exit when Smith drove into the grass median and was stuck.
Gunfire was exchanged and Smith was shot and killed at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
