An El Paso, Texas woman is charged with capital murder in the death of her infant son.

19-year-old Johnnette Dukes called 911 on May 8 and reported that she woke up from a nap to find her 7-month-old son missing.

Police searched the area around the home in the 3600 block of Johnson Avenue and said they found the baby inside a laundry basket underneath piled clothing.

Officers attempted CPR but the baby was later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

The medical examiner’s officers ruled the cause of death was asphyxia.

Dukes was arrested on May 14 and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on suspicion of capital murder.
