A teenage girl died after being shot by another teen girl in west Columbus, Ohio early Monday evening, police said.
According to Columbus Police, officers responded to the area of 1815 Ridgebury Dr. around 7:40 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and started to render aid to the victim, 17-year-old Jayce O’Neal. O’Neal and the suspect, 16-year-old Marizah Thomas were reportedly fighting when Thomas pulled out a gun and shot the 17-year-old.
Thomas was seen driving off before being found Tuesday morning. Anyone who knows something about the crime was asked to contact police. O’Neal was pronounced dead at Doctor’s West Hospital.
Police said multiple 911 calls came in about the shooting. Police said it is an area they don’t often get called to.
