A man suspected in the murder of a DeKalb County woman is accused of filming her death on his cellphone.

New details have emerged about the killing of 23-year-old Mirsha Victor, whose remains were found Tuesday in Henry County, Georgia and later identified by the coroner. A second set of remains were found in the same area, also belonging to a woman, but they have not been identified.

41-year-old Dennis Lane was arrested July 9, just one day after Victor’s disappearance and suspected murder. Along with two other suspects, Cleounsee Fisher and Ronisha Preckwinkle, Lane is charged with murder, false imprisonment and tampering with evidence, jail records show.

According to a police report released Wednesday, Lane was detained after using Victor’s phone to call her mother. While Lane was in custody in a police car, investigators noticed a mattress with possible blood stains on it in a dumpster across the street from his apartment, the report said. Inside the apartment, they found “blood on the floor, in the bathroom, and a mattress missing,” a Henry officer said in the report.

Though Victor’s body was still missing at the time, the arrest warrant obtained revealed that Lane’s cellphone contained video of her death. That video and other information gathered during the preliminary investigation allowed police to file murder charges and arrest Lane and the others.

Lane is also charged with necrophilia. He is a registered sex offender who was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault in Illinois that took place in 1999, according to the GBI. He served a 20-year sentence for the rape of a 10-year-old girl. Lane was released on parole in May 2019, according to Illinois court records.

Officials have not said how the remains were located or the condition of the two bodies. They were discovered in a busy area near the intersection of Hudson Bridge Road and Oakwood Manor Drive. Investigators quickly linked the remains to Victor’s case, and their suspicion was confirmed by the coroner.

Victor was reported missing July 8, officials said. Her car was discovered three days later. Investigators concluded she had been killed the same day she went missing, according to Henry police.

Lane and Fisher, who are brothers, have lived in Stockbridge together for about a year. In that time, police had been called to their home five times.

One of those calls was in response to Fisher shooting and killing his adult nephew, Lane’s son. Police determined the shooting was in lawful self-defense.

No further details have been released about how Fisher and Preckwinkle may have been involved in the circumstances around Victor’s death.
