An investigation into a deadly shooting in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania is underway.

Just after midnight on Monday, Allegheny County 911 dispatchers were notified of a shooting along Gray Street.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a woman who had been shot multiple times.

She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Dorai Harris.

By Monday afternoon, a memorial was set up at the corner.

“It’s tiresome, it’s sickening. I don’t understand why they don’t value life,” Toya Bailey said.

Bailey knows all too well the pain of violence. She lost her son in the same neighborhood about nine years ago after someone shot and killed him.

“I wouldn’t want this pain on my worst enemy. It’s a pain that never goes away,” she said.

Just a couple of weeks ago, a 16-year-old boy was shot just up the street from this latest homicide.

“It’s frustrating because it’s such a frequent thing that most of the kids barely react to it,” Pastor James Hogan said.

Pastor Hogan of Faithbridge Community Church lives in the neighborhood and runs violence prevention groups for children.

“We try to work with the kids we meet in a one-on-one way so that we can really impact them,” he said outside his church.

Other neighbors who spoke and said it’s time for all of the violence to stop. They’re tired of seeing people die on the street. Meanwhile, both Bailey and Hogan said preventing violence starts at home.

“If you know what they’re doing, stop them. Stop your kids. Get the guns. Stop your kid. It just doesn’t make sense,” Bailey said.

“Everything is generationally removed from normalcy. They just don’t know what normal looks like,” Hogan said.
