A South Carolina man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his girlfriend in May 2018. His girlfriend was in the early stages of pregnancy when she was killed.
Tremaine Pierre Johnson was found guilty of murdering Brechue “Bre” Wiles, at the conclusion of a 4-day jury trial on June 17, 2021.
According to Murray Glenn, with the Spartanburg County Solicitor’s Office, Johnson shot Brechue to death on May 9, 2018.
Brechue’s family had reported her missing to the sheriff’s office on May 11, 2018. She was last seen leaving her aunt’s apartment home two days earlier.
They said Brechue told family she was going to visit Johnson and discuss her pregnancy. In her last communication with family, Wiles reported she and Johnson were at a park sitting by water.

That same morning, two walkers noticed Brechue’s body in the lake during a morning walk at Duncan Park near the intersection of West Park and Carolyn Drives.
Police arrested Johnson at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after pulling his car over near his home. He tried to run away, but was caught and charged with Brechue’s murder.
According to an autopsy, Brechue sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her head.
Brechue told Johnson she wanted to keep her baby. However, he didn’t want her to keep the baby. According to him, he wasn’t ready.
Ricky Tyrell Gentry was convicted during the same trial of being an accessory before a felony and an accessory after. He was sentenced to 30 years for providing Johnson with a .40-caliber handgun.
Gentry had telephone and text communication with Johnson before and after the murder. Gentry also used his telephone to research how to report a gun stolen.
Tremaine Pierre Johnson was given a life sentence without parole.
Brechue was remembered as someone who enjoyed gathering family together and was an outgoing woman.
After graduating from Dorman High School in 2013, Brechue had big dreams. She attended the Art Institute of Charlotte studying fashion design. She left the institute and later studied at Greenville Technical College for about two years.
