Two people are dead and their 6-month-old son was flown to the hospital after a triple shooting in Lenoir, North Carolina on Monday afternoon.
Officers were called at noon to a home on Willow Street next to West End Park for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they said they found two adults and their infant child who had been shot.
Both police and eyewitnesses said the shooting happened after an argument between the couple inside the home.
Quasia Stevenson said she was inside the house when the shooting happened and was trying to help her infant nephew until paramedics arrived. She described the shooting as domestic-related and said her brother, Anthony Stevenson, was the one who fired the gun.
She said he shot his son and his girlfriend, Shantel Harper, before turning the gun on himself.
”I just want my nephew to be OK,” Quasia Stevenson said. “All I know is they were arguing … about the baby.”
Anthony Stevenson and Harper both died at the hospital and their son remains in critical condition, officials said.
Police set up a perimeter around the crime scene which was spread across the street in front of the home. Officers then got a search warrant and went inside the house to collect evidence.
Police did not say if they found a gun at the scene but neighbors said they heard at least a half dozen shots fired.
