A woman has been arrested after a road rage shooting in Phoenix, Arizona left a man fighting for his life late last month, according to court documents obtained.
The incident happened on October 21 around 10 a.m. near 43rd and Peoria avenues when the man and a woman, now identified as 27-year-old Jenee Anisah Mariaanne Panell, were at a red light. Police say some sort of argument between the two drivers happened at the intersection.
Police paperwork says that as the man began to drive off, he drifted into Pannell’s lane. Investigators said at that point, she pulled out a handgun and fired a single round, striking the man in the head. The driver’s wife and two-year-old child were inside the truck at the time. Pannell reportedly drove off from the area in her Kia Soul.

After the man was shot, he lost control of the vehicle and drove into a wall at the Salt River Project Runoff Canal. He was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and underwent surgery. The man’s wife had minor injuries, while the child wasn’t hurt. An update on his status hasn’t been released.
Court paperwork says detectives were able to link Pannell to the crime scene after video surveillance from a Valley Metro bus showed the Kia involved and captured its license plate. The plate was found to be registered to two different owners, with Pannell matching up to the description the victim had reported.
Pannell was arrested on Wednesday. Police say they were able to track her down by pinging her GPS location from her cell phone. Investigators say she was staying at a trailer park near 43rd and Glendale avenues, three miles from the crime scene. In addition, one of the victims identified Pannell in a photo line-up.

When detectives interviewed Pannell, she confirmed her cell phone number as the one authorities had pinged to find her location, and which placed her at the area of the shooting. After Pannell’s Miranda Rights were read, she requested an attorney.
She faces four counts of aggravated assault and other charges, including drive-by shooting, endangerment, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
