A South Euclid, Ohio man was arrested for murdering his 91-year-old mother.
50-year-old Marcus Henry was taken into custody at about 10 a.m. Thursday and charged with aggravated murder.
Police said his elderly mother, 91-year-old Essie Henry, was severely beaten to death. Her body was found in a bush at Warrensville Center and Colony roads in South Euclid on November 4, when police responded to a welfare check.
The suspect’s DNA was found on the victim, according to an affidavit filed in South Euclid Municipal Court by police.
The affidavit written by Detective Michael DeMario, states that Marcus Henry’s DNA was found on both of Essie’s wrists, on her right hand and underneath the fingernails of her left hand.
It further noted that Marcus Henry told detectives he had a “strained” relationship with his mother and last saw her on November 2, even though he lived in her home.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner listed her cause of death as blunt force trauma.
Marcus Henry is due in court soon.
