A Wichita, Kansas man was sentenced to 26 years in prison in connection to the murder of his 2-month-old son.

In January 2020, Marlin Williams told authorities he squeezed the baby’s head and repeatedly told him to shut up after the infant began crying.

On Thursday, Williams was sentenced to 316 months in prison, the equivalent of 26 years.

According to the affidavit, Williams told investigators he tripped and fell with his knee on Marrell while the child was on the bed, causing the baby to cry. Williams, who is 6-foot-2 and was about 400 pounds at the time, told police he was frustrated with the infants’ crying and squeezed his son’s head “extra hard.”

After putting his son down, Williams said he went and played a game on his Xbox for 10 to 20 minutes. He said he checked on his children and went back to playing Xbox. He estimated about 20 minuted passed before he checked on Marrell again.

The child vomited after Williams patted him on the back. He said he then did a video chat with a friend who told him to call 911.

Doctors later found that Marrell had suffered two skull fractures and that his twin sister had suffered a broken femur. The boy died six days later. The girl is now 2 years old.

An autopsy determined that Marrell suffered blunt force trauma to the head and fractures, both new and healing.

In court, Williams did apologize for his actions and asked for forgiveness.
