A 33-year-old man is charged with allegedly murdering his father and mother at a senior living facility in Chicago, Illinois.

Police said Ocie Banks Jr. has been charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder. He was arrested Tuesday after authorities identified him as the person who allegedly shot 61-year-old Sheila Banks and 79-year-old Ocie Banks Sr. to death.

According to police, the pair was found dead at the Wilson Yard senior home in the 1000 block of West Montrose Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, after officers conducted a well-being check.

His stepbrother Montrell Shief said the couple separated 10 years ago due to Banks Jr. allegedly assaulting his father. The father then moved in with Banks Jr. while staying friendly with his wife, court documents state.

According to court records, the father and son were in Sheila’s apartment playing cards on Friday night.

Chicago police said surveillance footage shows Banks Jr. allegedly leaving the unit at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning. No one else entered the apartment until police found the pair dead Sunday night. Both deaths were ruled homicides.

Family is hoping for justice following the murders.

“Tell us why you did it,” Shief said. “He’s going to get what he got coming. It’s too late for anything else, we just want to know why you did it, tell us why.”

He was denied bail on Thursday and his next court date is scheduled for May 3. Ocie Jr. is also awaiting trial in a federal armed robbery case. He was indicted in January and released on bond.
