A seven-month-old baby was shot and killed in Toledo, Ohio Wednesday night.

Toledo Police said that seven-month-old Desire Hughes was killed after shots were fired into her father’s vehicle.

Jeremiah Hughes was driving when occupants of an unknown vehicle fired shots into his car at the intersection of Jackman Road and Hillcrest Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to an area hospital where the victim, Desire Hughes, was treated for at least one gunshot wound. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office said she died at the hospital from an gunshot wound to the chest. The office ruled her death a homicide.

The father was grazed by a bullet and released from the hospital.

No suspects are in police custody at this time.

TPD said officers are asking residents in the area to review any home security footage they may have and report anything suspicious they may have seen before, during, or after the shooting.
