Police are searching for a Port Huron, Michigan man accused of attacking a woman with a hammer and a knife and holding her against her will until she escaped.

Police were called at 1:57 a.m. Thursday to the 1500 block of 11th Street, according to authorities.

Officers said they spoke to a 49-year-old woman who told them that 53-year-old Booker T. Brown had assaulted her at a home in the 1400 block of 13th Street.

She had been beaten, attacked with a hammer and knife, and held against her will until she escaped, police said.

She was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Brown. He is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 175 pounds.

He is wanted for attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment, according to officials.
