The Florida man charged with the murder of a woman who was shot and killed at Pensacola Fitness is expected to be in court on Monday.
Local news obtained court records detailing the history of trouble and violence in the relationship between Carla Williams and Kennon Farrow, before Tuesday’s shooting.
Williams was granted a temporary restraining order against him back in March.
According to the court records Farrow was arrested in February and charged with strangling Williams. That’s when she went to court and got a restraining order.
Local news asked a friend of Williams if at any point in time was she in fear for her life?
“She was, and I think everyone who knew about this situation was concerned,” the friend, Aletha Cassity, said.
Cassity was best friends with Williams, they met in college close to 30 years ago.
She says Williams would confide in her about her 3-year relationship with her alleged killer, Kennon Farrow, and how volatile it had become.
“She had seen signs of aggression, possessiveness, possessive behavior,” Cassity said. “Him trying to restrain her in arguments.”
According to court documents, Williams had ended the relationship for the second time last year on Christmas Eve after harassing texts and phone calls.
Williams tried to get a restraining order but it was dismissed.
In February the couple met at Williams’s home to eat and watch a movie, Farrow wanted to get back together with her.
According to court documents, Williams told him no and he said he wasn’t going to accept that.
The police report from February says farrow became violent that night and was arrested for domestic battery by strangulation.
Williams filed for a temporary restraining order in March and it was granted.
“She wanted to get the restraining order she was worried about him coming back to the house,” Cassity said.
Williams wrote in a petition to the court the two got into an argument that night after she asked farrow to leave and he refused.
- He was on top of me pinning me down he was yelling and screaming at me why don’t you give me one more chance…..
- He took his thumb and finger and hooked them on both sides of my throat and squeezed until I started gurgling…..
- I asked him to stop because he was hurting me and he said he didn’t care about hurting me.
According to the police report, Williams fled the house and Farrow chased her.
She was eventually able to get back into her home and lock the doors.
“It’s so frustrating because you always think was there something I could have said some I could have done,” Cassity said.
Farrow is being held at the Escambia County Jail with no bond.
Williams’ family released a statement, urging victims of abuse to keep fighting and seek help at the first sign of a problem.
Carla was and still is a shining light, a star for our family and those who knew her. She was hardworking, loving, and caring towards all those she knew. She loved working with her students and athletes. She was dedicated to going the extra mile for her students and those she loved. Carla was a friend to those who were friendless. She was family to those without a family. She worked hard to achieve her goals and accomplish all that she did. Carla pushed others to achieve their goals. Carla loved God and she showed it through her actions. To meet my sister and to know her was to love her! Our family is thankful for the love and the outpouring of prayers and support. As a sister, I am proud of how she fought for herself. She never allowed the abuse to take her spirit away. She fought for her freedom. He couldn’t kill her spirit in life and there is no way he will ever kill her spirit now. The seed of love she planted in everyone’s heart will always be there. My sister refused to live afraid and I am beyond proud of her! If there is anything she would say, I feel certain she would tell her students that they can achieve anything. To those who were left without a teacher, without a friend, without a family member-you now have a shining light a bright star to remind you that you can make it, you can achieve your best, and you are loved. To the women and men dealing with abuse keep fighting and living your best life! Let no one kill the spirit of life that God gave you! Get help from others, call the authorities at the least sign of a problem to protect yourself!
