Police in Mississippi have identified a suspect in connection with a murder of a man in Clinton on Sunday evening.

Police were called at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday to a home on Hannah Drive where they found a man dead from several gunshot wounds, according to Capt. Josh Frazier. The man was later identified as 45-year-old Robert “Bobby” Davis.

Chief Ford Hayman said the shooting took place just off a driveway that leads into the home. Hayman said Davis was visiting the home when he was shot.

A pickup truck was towed away for evidence.

Police are searching for 55-year-old William Ervin Edwards. He is also known as “Polo” and “Napoleon.” Edwards is a popular video blogger who posts daily videos live on Facebook and is a former radio talk show host.

Davis was the leader of Better Men Society, an organization that works to steer young people off the streets and away from crime. Davis took part in a march against crime in Jackson last month.

Hayman said a motive for what he called a “senseless murder” has not been identified.

“You could call it domestic, in some sense of the word,” Hayman said. “Underlying motivations that were directly related to that residence.”

Hayman said the shooting was an isolated incident.

“This is the city of Clinton and this kind of stuff very rarely happens, thank goodness,” Hayman said. “We take this extremely serious. There’s no words for this. It’s sad, it’s tragic and we’re going to put the person or persons in jail.”

Anyone with information about Edwards’ whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
