An Alabama man was arrested in connection to the death of his grandmother, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
31-year-old Richard Alan Howell was charged with murder after deputies found his grandmother, 77-year-old Dinah Davis Northcutt, dead inside a home in the Summerhill community Wednesday evening.
Shelby County 911 Dispatch received a call reporting a suspicious person in the 100 block of Highway 97 shortly after 7:00 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said deputies received additional information, which led them to the home where Northcutt was found in the 100 block of Highway 315.
The sheriff’s office said investigators discovered additional information that led to the arrest of Howell.
Howell is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
