A New Mexico man searched for a hitman to kill his mother-in-law, imploring an undercover agent to “kill that bitch,” court documents show.

32-year-old Leif Everett Hayman is accused of contacting the owner of a fake website — RentAHitman.com — in mid-April to indicate he wanted someone “hurt,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Post.

“I want her gone now,” Hayman allegedly wrote the owner of the fictitious website. “Too much that I don’t like about her … she’s controlling my wife.”

A week later, Hayman used an alias to reach out a second time to the website while providing his mother-in-law’s phone number, address and a photograph,” court documents show.

“Kill that bitch,” Hayman allegedly added.

Hayman later started having doubts about the website as he expressed an urgent need to have the contract killing carried out, saying he couldn’t wait more than five days, according to the complaint.

“You people are fake,” Hayman allegedly wrote. “If u were real someone who have contact [sic] me already … I can’t wait anymore … I’m doing it my f–king self, thank you for nothing fake people.”

An agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives posing as a hitman later got in touch with Hayman to ask if was still interested “in my services,” according to the complaint.

Hayman then told the undercover agent he thought the killing would be “free,” but ultimately suggested $200 as a “starting price” for the slaying, court documents show.

“It’s my wife’s mom we’re talking about, so I don’t want any evidence to come back to me or you,” Hayman allegedly told the purported hitman.

Hayman told the agent his wife lived in Bayard and that he would ask her to mail him some money, the complaint states. He also allegedly suggested his mother-in-law be shot.

“Hayman said he would lie to his wife and say he needed money for something else,” the complaint continued. “Hayman said his wife did not know what was going on.”

Hayman said he hated his wife’s mother “with a passion,” but later indicated he was only able to come up with $53, prompting him to suggest the hitman kill his mother using a baseball bat, the complaint states.

The undercover ATF agent went to Hayman’s home on May 11 to pick him up to carry out the alleged contract killing, but another man at the residence approached their vehicle and the purported hitman drove off, court documents show. He was later arrested on June 1.

A preliminary hearing in the case was set for Wednesday.

Hayman, who has been charged with using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire, has a legal guardian and lives in a residential facility through New Mexico’s Developmental Disabilities Waiver program. He was being held in federal custody, the newspaper reported Tuesday.

A federal public defender representing Hayman did not return a request for comment, the newspaper reported.

Hundreds of people, meanwhile, have contacted RentAHitman.com since its launch 17 years ago in search of someone to handle a “delicate situation” that can’t be solved legally.

“RENT-A-HITMAN: Your Point & Click Solution!” the website reads. “Click below for your FREE CONSULTATION. Your privacy is important to us!”

The site, operated by Bob Inness, of Sacramento, even features fake testimonials of satisfied customers raving about the handiwork of a hitman named Guido Fanelli.

“Caught my husband cheating with the babysitter and our relationship was terminated after a free public relations consultation,” wrote an apparent client from Arizona named Laura. “I’m single again and looking to mingle. Thanks Guido and RENT-A-HITMAN!”
