The family of a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania man who disappeared three years ago is finally getting answers.

The remains of 22-year-old Rashid Young, of Pottstown, were found buried in a Philadelphia arboretum in 2019 but were only recently identified.

20-year-old Keshaun Sheffield is now charged with murdering Young. Authorities said the men had a romantic relationship.

According to investigators, Sheffield sent texts and Facebook messages to Young’s family and friends for months after his August 2019 death to make it appear he was still alive.

Sheffield also allegedly made numerous withdrawals from Young’s $2 million trust fund. The trust fund was frozen in December 2019 when Young was declared missing.

A landscaper discovered Young’s remains at Awbury Arboretum in Sept. 2019, and the case was initially in the hands of Philadelphia investigators. Authorities said an autopsy determined the person had been stabbed to death, but authorities couldn’t identify the victim.

Only recently, the Montgomery County district attorney’s office got involved after being contacted by a private investigator hired by Young’s family, and the remains were determined to be Young’s.

Sheffield is facing charges that include first-degree murder. He is being held in prison without bail.
