A 41-year-old Florida woman has died as a result of what started as a chase that ultimately ended with a shooting and crash in Riviera Beach, according to family members.

Loved ones identified the victim as Zequi Poole, who is described as a loving mother to a young boy.

The investigation began Tuesday afternoon.

Riviera Beach police were called to a shooting that they say occurred in the 2300 block of Avenue E.

Officers were also seen investigating a second scene, off of Broadway and West 24th Street, focusing on a heavily damaged blue sedan that crashed into a tree.

“My mindset is why? This is happening far too many times in this community,” said Vice President of Mother’s Against Murderers Association Artie Williams.

Williams confirmed the victim’s name and says his organization helps families of victims at crime scenes.

“It’s important because you connect with the families right there, you know that they’re feeling, you’ve done this so many times. Many mothers have lost their loved ones,” said Williams.

It’s still unclear if Poole died because of the crash, or if she was shot in the gunfire that broke out, just steps away from a daycare.

“It could’ve been anyone. Kids could’ve walked outside on a field trip. We just got to be more vigilant in our community,” said Williams.

Williams says Poole was with two other people, who are being kept in the hospital overnight.

Police have yet to say if they’re looking for suspects as of late Tuesday night.

However, Williams is urging members of the community to step up and let police know of any information that can help with this investigation.
