An 11-year-old Florida boy who was recently arrested for burglarizing a gun store has now been connected to at least 16 car burglaries in Lee County, officials said.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, Lukis Ayala confessed to the car burglaries after he was arrested on June 8 for stealing 22 guns at Guns4Less in Cape Coral with his 14-year-old brother, Felix Ayala.
Police said they went to Ayala’s home on Thursday a day after Lukis was released from the Juvenile Assessment Center when he admitted to the additional crimes.
He allegedly told police he was responsible for the burglaries that happened in the area of Country Club Blvd and Everest Parkway in Cape Coral on the same day as the gun store theft.
The 11-year-old was taken back to the Juvenile Assessment Center Thursday.
He is facing an additional 16 counts of burglary of a conveyance, one count of grand theft, and three counts of petit theft.
On June 8, the juvenile brothers identified as Lukis and Felix Ayala allegedly cut the power to the Guns 4 Less store in Cape Coral and smashed glass displays with a sledge hammer before stealing 22 guns, ammo and mags.
The pair fled the scene and dropped the guns before officers detained them nearby, CCPD said. All of the weapons were recovered.
Felix is being charged as an adult.
From the gun store heist, the brothers face 22 counts of grand theft, armed burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, according to CCPD.
