Two people have been arrested after a toddler’s burned remains were discovered in Oklahoma, according to police.

The Seminole Police Department received a tip around 11 p.m. on Tuesday that led officers to an area where burned remains were discovered.

According to a press release from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, who is assisting SPD with the investigation, the officers learned that the remains were of a toddler. Detectives were led to a crime scene at a home that belongs to 32-year-old Chad Jennings, and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Katherine Penner.

OSBI said both Jennings and Penner were arrested. Jennings has been booked on recommended charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy and child abuse by injury. Penner has been booked on recommended charges of accessory to murder, child abuse by injury and desecration of a human corpse.

OSBI said that they were requested to assist SPD with processing the crime scenes. The Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting to determine the cause of death and to identify the toddler. OSBI also said that ATF is assisting the investigation as well.

No further information has been released and the investigation is ongoing.
