A Florida man has been arrested and charged for the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Tampa.

44-year-old Ronny Walker was charged with premeditated first degree murder on Thursday for the murder of Nilexia B. Alexander, who was a runaway out of Temple Terrace according to the Tampa Police.

Nilexia was found by the road near the 100 block of Floribraska Avenue on May 6.

Detectives said they were able to locate Walker by tying his vehicle to the location near the time of the murder. Cellphone evidence also placed Nilexia inside of Walker’s vehicle around the time of her murder, per police.

U.S. Marshals took Walker into custody after the FDLE was able to confirm DNA found in Walker’s vehicle while executing a search warrant matched Nilexia’s.

The case remains under investigation.
