Deputies in Alabama with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a 19-year-old man on Thursday night for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend.
Deputies responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of SW Wall Street in Madison. When they arrived, they took Antonio Terrell Burks into custody.
According to investigators, the incident began with a domestic dispute that led Burks to pull out a gun and shoot his ex-girlfriend. Limestone County Coroner Mike West said 22-year-old Chi Ari-Hasan McDade was shot in the face and pronounced dead at Huntsville Hospital.
McDade was taken to Huntsville Hospital where she later died from her injuries. Alabama A&M University released a statement about McDade’s death.
McDade was a native of Birmingham and was a member of the cheer squad. In May, McDade graduated from AAMU with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.
AAMU is offering counseling services to students, faculty and staff who might need assistance in coping with her loss.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, probable cause was found to arrest and charge Burks for murder. He was booked into the Limestone County Jail and his bond has not been set.
