Alabama authorities are searching for a woman charged with capital murder who escaped from a Lowndes County jail early Tuesday morning.

In a news release, CrimeStoppers said 30-year-old Christina Lashay Thurman escaped from the Lowndes County Detention Facility around 2:18 a.m. Tuesday by climbing over a fence.

Thurman was at the facility pending trial on a capital murder charge out of Choctaw County. In addition to her previous charge, she is now wanted for second-degree escape.

Thurman is approximately 5 feet, 2 inches and 128 pounds. She is believed to be heading to Mississippi, Louisiana or Texas.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 334-215-7867 or 1-833-AL1-STOP. Credible tips may lead to a cash reward.
