A California resident who coached cheerleading for Everett Alvarez High School has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting Tuesday morning.
29-year-old Faith Elizabeth Valenzuela was found in her vehicle unconscious with gunshot wounds by a police officer on Natividad Road and Lunsford Drive in Salinas.
The officer says Valenzuela’s car had crashed, prompting him to check the vehicle.
The officer performed CPR on Valenzuela but she succumbed to her injuries.
Salinas Union High School District Superintendent Dan Burns released this statement:
We were notified that the person found early Tuesday morning on Natividad road victim of a shooting was identified as the EAHS cheer advisor. School staff called a meeting of the cheer squad yesterday to discuss the tragedy and provide grief support.
