Georgia State Troopers found a wrecked vehicle that matches the description of a car driven by a missing ICU nurse out of South Carolina.

39-year-old Shauna Brown was reported missing on July 10.

Brown, an ICU nurse at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, was on her way to St. Francis Hospital in Alabama for clinical studies to be a nurse practitioner earlier this month.

She never made it to Alabama. Inside the vehicle that troopers found was a woman’s body along with scrubs. The vehicle was found on Interstate 20 west.

As of now, it’s believed Brown died in a single-car crash. Investigators believe that will be confirmed that with autopsy results and a positive identification of the body over the weekend.

“We believe this is Shauna Brown’s remains, but the hard part for us is having to get that DNA sample from mom and compare that along with her dental records with the remains they have down in Georgia,” Deputy Chief Melron Kelly said.

Columbia police and the FBI worked together to search for Brown.

“She was committed to her patients, servicing them, and so committed to her job,” said Marylin Richardson-Pryor.
