A Georgia man is charged with shooting at a man multiple times from his car in what authorities say was an act of road rage.
According to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Wade McEwan was traveling west on Highway 92 Thursday evening on June 30th when another driver attempted to pass but McEwan blocked him.
Investigators determined that after the driver, attempted to pass several times, both vehicles were stopped at the traffic light at Highway 92, McEwan began firing through his drivers side window at the other driver, and continued firing as the driver turned around and went east on Highway 92.
Authorities said it appeared McEwan fired about 14 shots at the other vehicle, and two rounds struck the victim.
A Woodstock police officer saw the shooting, authorities said, and conducted a traffic stop in which the suspected shooter was detained.
The man who was shot was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. He was “conscious and alert” during the transport, authorities said.
McEwan is charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct and reckless driving. As of Friday afternoon, he was in custody at the Cherokee County jail without bond.
The shooting remains under investigation.
