A Michigan man has been sentenced to decades in prison in connection with the deaths of a 34-year-old woman and her 5-year-old son who were killed and then buried in the man’s backyard, the Lansing State Journal reports.
The remains of Danielle Steiner and Aubrey Hall were found by a construction worker in July 2019, about a year after their deaths, in the backyard of 58-year-old Douglas Hill, the report said. They had been shot to death and had signs of other injuries.
Hill was sentenced this week by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge James Jamo to 30 to 50 years in prison on two counts of second-degree murder, the report said. Hill pleaded guilty to the charges in a plea deal; two counts each of open murder and felony firearm were dismissed.
At the time of their deaths, Steiner and her son were living with Hill after being neighbors for many years, the report said. When they first disappeared, Hill told investigators he and Steiner, who were in a romantic relationship, got in an argument on Father’s Day 2018 and she packed, got in a vehicle and left.
