The Ohio suspect in a deadly shooting at a Groveport business died after touching powerlines when he climbed a utility pole, police say.

Officials from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said its office received multiple calls just before 5:30 a.m. from the SK Food Group on a report of a shooting.

Groveport Police described the shooting as a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman, both employees from a temp agency, inside the manufacturing facility.

According to Groveport Police, the man and woman were from the Dayton area.

Police said the man approached the woman in the locker area of the business and shot her multiple times.

She was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition where she later died, according to officers.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the building. He was found nearby on Alum Creek Drive, about a quarter-mile from the shooting.

Groveport police said he climbed a utility pole and died after coming in contact with the power lines.

“Our concerns and thoughts are with our team members who were affected by this terrible incident – the two team members involved directly in the incident as well as our work family, at large,” a public relations firm on behalf of SK Foods said. “At this time, we can confirm that both individuals involved are deceased. We are doing everything that we can to cooperate with the authorities, and cannot comment further on the situation. As more information becomes available, it will be shared, as appropriate.”

Multiple agencies assisted with the incident including SWAT, Columbus Police, Groveport Police, Obetz Police and Columbus Fire.

Officials said SWAT searched the facility to make sure there was no threat and evacuated employees as necessary.

Groveport police said no other employees were injured in this incident, and no shots were fired by law enforcement.

The firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered.
