Police in Arizona say a man is dead after he was shot while forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home in west Phoenix early Wednesday morning.

Phoenix police officers were called out to a home near 113th Avenue and Monterosa, just north of Indian School Road, around 6:45 a.m. Police arrived, and a woman led them to 19-year-old Kimoni Wilson, who had been shot and died.

Investigators say Wilson was the woman’s ex-boyfriend. Wilson reportedly forced his way inside the house and got in a fight with another man. Police say Wilson then hit the other man with his gun, and a struggle began. During the fight, the other man was able to get ahold of Wilson’s gun and shot him. Wilson died at the scene, and the other man was taken to the hospital where he should survive.

Police are still reviewing more evidence from the crime scene. The investigation is ongoing.
