Prosecutor’s in New York confirmed the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a Syracuse apartment are being investigated as murders and that a child was found alive in the apartment.

32-year-old Alexis Sellin and 46-year-old Jami Crawford were found dead in the apartment at 3:37 p.m. at 3101 Burnet Ave. said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for Syracuse police.

A child around the age of five or six was found in the apartment with the bodies, Chase said.

The apartment belonged to Sellin, said Chief Assistant District Attorney Shaun Chase. Authorities are still working to figure out the relationship between the man and the woman, he said.

A “routine visitor” found Sellin, Crawford and the child, he said. While the two were discovered at that time it is believed they were shot previously, he said.

A police officer who arrived at the apartment when the call came in said the shooting “appears to have occurred a while ago,” according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.

Officers requested an ambulance to the scene to evaluate a child found at the apartment building, according to dispatches.
