The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Officen in Louisiana is investigating a deadly shooting that happened in the early morning hours of Oct. 20, 2022.
OPSO responded to the 100 block of Dillingham Dr. in Monroe shortly after midnight in response to a reported shooting. Deputies say they found the victim, identified as 31-year-old Kenneth Heckard, dead at the residence.
Heckard was previously arrested by OPSO on Oct. 17 and was charged with domestic abuse battery, second offense in relation to a fight with his wife that same day. Heckard posted bond on Oct. 19.
OPSO says Heckard was in a fight with his wife and her son, shortly after midnight on Oct. 20 and during the fight, Heckard was shot and killed.
The son, 19-year-old Kevin Smith, was later arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.
