A 35-year-old California woman was taken into custody on a murder charge for the shooting death of a man in Perris on Monday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Haystack Loop at 4:17 pm.

Upon arriving, deputies located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Dorian Herrod, Sr.

Investigators from the Perris Station and Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. Investigators identified and arrested a suspect responsible for the homicide. 35-year-old Kayla Foster was arrested and booked into custody.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll, Foster was involved in an argument with Herrod. Allegedly, Foster pulled a gun and shot Herrod once.

A possible motive and the relationship between the suspect and victim, if any, were not disclosed.

Foster was booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Monday night on suspicion of murder. She is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
