Homicide detectives in Georgia are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead inside a car in a Decatur parking lot, DeKalb County Police said.
Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked at a location on Snapfinger Parkway just after noon Saturday, where they found a woman described to be in her 30’s dead inside the car. Police said she she was shot twice in the head.
According to On Common Ground News, the victim has been identified as 19-year-old Ja’Nautica Lashay Whitehead.
The news outlet filed an open records request that was made available December 28, for the arrest warrant for the suspect, Deeron Zyon Hicks.
Hicks was arrested on maloce murder charges on December 17, according to DeKalb County Jail records.
Hicks and Whitehead had dated for the last four years. Investigators learned of the relationship between the two from Whitehead’s family.
Whitehead was an employee at a nearby Waffle House, said the outlet. She still has on her work uniform when she was killed.
