Police in Mississippi are investigating a deadly shooting that killed a 15-year-old girl at a Jackson intersection.
Jackson police confirm the shooting happened Wednesday night at the intersection of Meadow Lane and McCluer Road.
The Hinds County coroner identified the teenager as Snamaya Anderson. Jackson Public Schools officials said Anderson was a Whitten Middle School student.
Chief James Davis said the suspected shooter is also 15-year-old.
According to witnesses, a group of teenagers were walking to a store when someone in a black vehicle jumped out and opened fire on Anderson.
Witness said the suspect drove away from the scene.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, classmates and the school staff,” JPS officials said in a statement. “Counseling is being provided to grieving scholars and staff.”
