Corpus Christi police in Texas are investigating after a shooting on the city’s Southside left a 20-year-old woman dead and four others injured on Sunday.
Around 11:30 p.m., police responded to the 2700 block of Persimmon Street, near Galvan Elementary School, for a shooting in progress. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot and died of her injuries, a release stated.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 20-year-old Alexis Gonzales.
Officers located four additional shooting victims, who were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their ages and conditions were not released.
Police believe several people drove to a residence on Persimmon Street, where a disturbance escalated to a shooting. “Both parties” discharged firearms, according to police.
The parties knew each other and the shooting was not a random act of violence, the release stated.
