A 20-year-old Florida woman faces over 10 charges after assaulting officers following an altercation at a Pensacola apartment, according to an arrest report.
29-year-old Katoria Garrett is charged with:
- Battery – Domestic Violence (3 counts)
- Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence (5 counts)
- Child Abuse (2 counts)
- Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (3 counts)
- Depriving a Law Enforcement Officer of a Weapon
The incident happened Tuesday at the Stoddert Arms Apartments in Escambia County.
According to the report, a victim accidentally hit Garrett with a phone, which caused Garrett to begin hitting the victim.
The report states Garrett struck a victim in the head and face before pulling braids from her head.
According to the report, Garrett then went into the kitchen and grabbed two knives — swinging one at a victim. She also threw a knife at the victim.
The report states Garrett continued to throw a kettlebell weight at a victim who tried to stop the altercation. She then threw a full wine bottle at victims and also punched a victim in the face.
The arrest report was redacted to not include the victims’ names or ages.
According to the report, when deputies arrived and attempted to arrest Garrett, she tried to run.
The report states Garrett bit deputies multiple times as they tried to place her in handcuffs. She also reportedly tried to grab the taser on a deputy’s belt.
Garrett is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.
