Amarillo Police Department identified a homicide suspect after a woman was shot dead at a hotel over the weekend.
29-year-old Trey Phillip Greenleaf was arrested for the murder of 31-year-old Kendra Vela that happened on Sunday.
Vela was found dead with gunshot wounds in a hotel room inside WoodSpring Suites near 4600 block of East I-40 near South Eastern Street.
Homicide detectives tracked Greenleaf to the Baymont Inn & Suites at I-40 East and Ross. The SWAT Team took Greenleaf into custody at 7:40 p.m. Greenleaf was later announced to have been taken into custody and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a murder charge.
Other details about what prompted the killing were not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
