A Nevada Homeowner shot and killed a home intruder in the early morning hours of Thursday, according to Henderson Police.

Officers responded around 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, to a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of Sebring Hills Drive, near Sun City Anthem Drive and Volunteer Boulevard, Henderson Police said in a statement.

Investigators learned that someone had broken into a home that belonged to someone who died the week before, according to police.

The son of the homeowner responded to check on the home and as he was inside, he saw the intruder and fired his gun.

Police arrived and found the intruder, identified as a 38-year-old man, dead at the scene.

Investigators determined there would be no criminal charges filed, but no further details were provided.
