A Texas woman has been arrested and charged after a fight between middle school girls left a 6-year-old boy with gunshot wounds in Spring on Thursday night.
34-year-old Brittany Sanders is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputies said the fight between the girls started early Thursday and somehow continued later that evening, ending in the 6100 block of Cypresswood Green Drive.
Deputies said during the fight, a woman, later identified as Sanders, came from out of a home, firing a warning shot into the air.
The girls then ran back to the car they drove to the location, Precinct 4 Cpt. Buddy Gheen said.
“The suspect then fires two to three more shots towards the vehicle, striking within that vehicle a 6-year-old male. That male was transported by that vehicle to the hospital,” Gheen said.
The 6-year-old had injuries to his arm and thigh, according to a Facebook post from Constable Mark Herman.
Sanders was booked into Harris County Jail and was expected to appear in probable cause court at 1 p.m. Friday.
Cpt. Gheen said one of Sanders’ children may have been involved in the fight with the girls.
Investigators were working to determine what happened. No students have been charged yet, Gheen said.
