A third person has been arrested in connection to a police-involved shooting in the parking lot of a Texas adult club a week ago.
Last Monday, El Paso police said officers were driving in the parking lot of Jaguars Gentlemen’s Club, “searching for illegal activity.”
They saw a parked vehicle with two people inside who were identified as 29-year-old Damian Arce and 27-year-old Tyisha Mullen.
Police said the officers asked Arce to step outside so they could look into suspected marijuana use.
Instead, he “attempted to flee the area by driving away, striking the police car and several customer vehicles while dragging the officers. An altercation ensued between the officers and the occupants as they were taken into custody.”
That wasn’t the only thing happening.
Police said while the officers were trying to make the arrests, a third person — 29-year-old Cantrell James Miller — “drove in the direction of the officers while revving the engine as if he was going to run over the officers.”
By that time, other officers began arriving to assist and Miller “drove around the parking lot attempting to evade the officers.
At one point, he placed a one-year veteran officer in fear for his safety, causing the officer to fire his gun,” police said.
Miller was able to get away and his vehicle was later found abandoned.
Police say they arrested him Saturday when he was “stopped with narcotics.”
Miller is charged with one count of aggravated assault against a public servant.
Mullen is charged with one count of assault against a public servant and one count of resisting arrest.
Arce is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and one count of resisting arrest.
This was not Arce’s first run-in with the law. Neither was his arrest in 2016.
Seven years ago, he was on the most wanted list, with four outstanding felony warrants and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant at the time of his arrest. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance under four grams, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Then, in 2021, it was aggravated assault against a public servant, tampering with evidence with intent to impair, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
