Six men have been charged in connection to a deadly mass shooting at a birthday party in Alabama on Saturday.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said 20-year-old Johnny Letron Brown was formally charged with four counts of reckless murder.
Just before noon Thursday, ALEA said it made a fifth arrest in the investigation. 19-year-old Willie George Brown Jr. was arrested and formally charged.
Later Thursday evening, ALEA announced a 15-year-old from Tuskegee was also arrested and formally charged with four counts of reckless murder. The teen was not identified. Officials said the 15-year-old is the only one of the six suspects not being held without bond in the Tallapoosa County Jail.
The shooting killed four young people, ranging in age from 17 to 23, and shocked the small city of Dadeville. Besides the four killed, 32 others were injured, four of them critically.
The birthday girl’s brother, 18-year-old Philstavious “Phil” Dowdell of Camp Hill, Alabama, died as his sister knelt beside him begging him to keep breathing. He and another fatal victim, 17-year-old Shaunkivia Nicole “KeKe” Smith were high school seniors. Also killed were 19-year-old Marsiah Emmanuel “Siah” Collins and 23-year-old Corbin Dahmontrey Holston.
Tuskegee teens, a 16-year-old Travis McCullough and 17-year-old Ty Reik McCullough, and 20-year-old Wilson LaMar Hill Jr., of Auburn, were also each charged with four counts of reckless murder.
ALEA said everyone arrested in connection to the shooting has been booked into the Tallapoosa County Jail with no bond.
