Police in New York have made an arrest for the burning death of a 38-year-old Rochester woman earlier this month.
Fantasia Stone was found on fire inside an apartment building April 11 on Jefferson Avenue. She died from her injuries.
Police announced the arrest of 53-year-old Troy Parker Wednesday morning.
Parker allegedly doused Stone with an accelerant and intentionally set her on fire following an argument.
Police arrested Parker on Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges Wednesday morning.
“Murder investigations get solved because people cooperate with police,” Captain Frank Umbrino said. “That’s certainly the case here. We had a good amount of video evidence, and we had people who cooperated. When people cooperate, we are able to make arrests.”
The fire also did damage to the building. An arson at the same address the next day is still being investigated. Anyone with information that can help is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 423-9300.
